The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route offers more than twenty wine tourism experiences for this Easter Week

The route’s wine tourism offering allows visitors to discover Spain’s only Cava Museum, located in Almendralejo

The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route offers more than twenty wine tourism experiences for this Easter Week, activities that combine gastronomy, nature, heritage, and wine culture.

The Route includes not only wineries, but also restaurants, bars, rural houses, gourmet shops, leisure companies, and museums. Notably, it features the country’s only museum dedicated exclusively to cava, the Almendralejo Cava Museum.

This museum was founded by one of the creators of Extremaduran cava, Marcelino Díaz González, and houses objects and graphic documents, including the first bottles of cava produced in 1982. Alongside the history, the visit includes a tasting of cavas produced by Díaz.

Wines from the Ribera del Guadiana DO pair with the enogastronomic experience “Flavor and Author’s Bites” offered by Bodegas Martínez Paiva/Restaurante Paiva. Gastronomy and products from Extremadura take center stage in many of the Route’s offerings for these holiday days.

Peaceful days in which to enjoy a walk among vineyards and olive groves, as proposed by the network of viewpoints. Also, the chance to discover the cultural and historical heritage of the region, such as the Prehistoric Tomb of Huerta Montero, located in Almendralejo, over 4,500 years old and considered one of the most unique burial sites in the region. All this while tasting artisan wines whose flavors transport you to another era.

History is also present in another of the Route’s proposals for this Easter Week: a visit to Bodegas Romero to taste its distinctive natural wines “Prelvm,” made and aged in clay jars and the result of a combination of special microclimate, clay soils, and an ecological approach.

Experiencias enoturísticas en Semana Santa

For lovers of Iberian products, La Lonja 77 in Almendralejo invites visitors to blend flavors, wine, and Iberian delicacies—two gourmet products that harmonize beautifully and create an explosive combination for the senses.

The possibilities are varied and include time for relaxation, such as the “Casa Spa Pairing” option in Fuente del Maestre, an opportunity to enjoy nature with “wines and cheeses,” like the event held last weekend featuring tastings of white wines from the Cayetana variety of the Tierra de Barros subzone, red wines from the Matanegra subzone, and DO cavas.

Information on all the experiences available for this Easter Week can be found on our website.
