A Museum with True Roots
Relive the history of wine and taste it glass in hand
Did you know that one of the best wine museums in Spain is in Extremadura, Almendralejo? We invite you to take a journey through the history of wine. To start, we will introduce you to the “Museum Wines,” winners of the museum’s annual best wine competition, which you can taste during the visit.
Explore the different halls of the Wine Science Museum:
- Archaeology Hall: Enjoy a journey through the history of Extremadura, from the Tartessians to the Middle Ages, all guided by the story of wine, with original archaeological pieces from regional sites.
- Anthropology Area: Divided into two zones, the “Field” section shows the entire process of viticulture, and the “Winery” section explains the various stages of wine and cava production.
- Wine Sciences Corridor: Learn how scientific aspects affect grape and wine life.
- Alcohol Room: The last museum hall displays the original storage tanks of the building, lined with refractory tiles, showing how it functioned when it was used for alcohol production.
The experience concludes with a toast using one of our wines, celebrating everything you’ve learned and enjoyed.
