Casar de Cáceres Tourist Office

Casar de Cáceres is known for giving its name to one of the most delicious and beloved cheeses in the world, Torta del Casar.

The town is located on the plains of Cáceres, along a historic route connecting the south and north of the peninsula. It houses remains of the Roman Vía de la Plata, the Cañada Real Soriana Occidental (Western Royal Route), and the Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James).

Its monuments include the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, the hermitages of Soledad, Mártires, Santiago, San Bartolomé, Encarnación, and the Hermitage of the Virgen del Prado.

The traditional architecture is reflected in the simple whitewashed facades with granite frames on doors and windows.
