The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route presents its wine tourism offer in Jaén

More than thirty people discover the experiences brought together by this itinerary, which is part of the Wine Routes of Spain

The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route has presented its wine tourism offer in Jaén—experiences that combine culture, gastronomy, nature, and tradition around wine and cava, proposing a wine tourism journey to enjoy the finest flavors of Extremadura.

More than thirty people discovered this itinerary, which is part of the Wine Routes of Spain Product Club, an entity promoted by the Spanish Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN).

The presentation event took place on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 21, at the headquarters of the Casa de Extremadura in Jaén, a cultural association focused on Extremadura and its culture, with more than one hundred members from various parts of the country—not only people from Extremadura—who visit the region each year to learn about its artistic, cultural, landscape, and gastronomic heritage.

Forty establishments make up the Route, including accommodation options, restaurants, wineries, themed leisure companies, gourmet shops, tourist offices to plan the destination, and museums such as the Villafranca de los Barros Museum, the Almendralejo Wine Science Museum, and the Cava Museum in the same city, the only one in Spain dedicated to cava.

The presentation of the Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route was led by its technician, Isabel García, who also conducted a guided pairing tasting in which attendees had the opportunity to sample a “Blasón de Turra” pardina from the Santa Marta de los Barros Cooperative, a “Castillo de Villalba” rosé from the Montevirgen Cooperative of Villalba de los Barros, and a “Vía de la Plata” chardonnay reserve cava.

The wines and cava from the Route were paired with three artisanal cheeses from Extremadura: “aged artisan goat cheese” from the Olivenza region by Quesería Valtrejo, “aged sheep cheese” from Quesería Finca Buenavista, and “torta de barros” from Quesería Tierra de Barros.

The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route is located within the territory of the Ribera del Guadiana Designation of Origin (DO) and the Cava DO. It is a wine tourism itinerary that, in 2024, according to data from the Wine Routes of Spain Observatory, was enjoyed by more than 24,000 people, of whom 3,000 participated in activities organized by the Route.
