The wines and cavas of the Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route pair with music in Valladolid

Journalists and travel agencies discover the wine tourism offerings of this itinerary, which is part of the Wine Routes of Spain

The wines and cavas of the Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route were paired with music this Wednesday, June 3, in Valladolid, where journalists and travel agencies discovered the wine tourism offerings of this itinerary, part of the Wine Routes of Spain, through the activity “Wine and Vinyl,” led by sommelier Pilar Cruces.

The Route, certified in 2013 as a Product Club of the Wine Routes of Spain, brings together more than forty establishments offering unique experiences to savor the region and discover its culture, heritage, nature, and history, with wine and cava serving as the common thread.

The wine tourism itinerary was presented by producer Nuria González and journalist Isabel Barrena, who introduced attendees to the defining features of this wine tourism route, located within the territory of the Ribera del Guadiana Designation of Origin and the Cava Designation of Origin.

During the presentation, the “Wine and Vinyl” activity took place, a tasting, sensory, and gastronomic experience guided by Burgos-born sommelier Pilar Cruces.

She was responsible for showcasing the potential and uniqueness of Extremadura’s wines and cavas. Accompanied by David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance,” she presented the white wine made from the Pardina grape variety, “Zaleo” by Viñaoliva. The tasting was also paired with “Villanoble” aged goat cheese from the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) Acehúche.

To the rhythm of Nancy Sinatra’s “These Boots Are Made for Walking,” attendees sampled the Tempranillo “Marqués de Villalba” from Cooperativa Montevirgen of Villalba de los Barros, a red wine with its own identity, paired with PDO Los Ibores goat cheeses.

The grand finale of the “Wine and Vinyl” presentation and tasting was provided by Extremaduran cava to the sound of Elvis Presley’s “Suspicious Minds.” The brut nature reserva “Xarel.lo” from

“Viña Romale” delighted journalists and travel agencies alike, accompanied by a tasting of PDO Queso de la Serena.

These promotional and outreach activities for the Route are part of the Tierra de Barros-Enotourism Tourism Sustainability Plan, funded by the European Union through the Provincial Council of Badajoz.
