Experience the unique pleasure of this jewel of world gastronomy

We whet our appetites by exploring the beautiful Montánchez Castle, dating back to the 12th century and built during the Almohad occupation. Next to it is its cemetery, which was named “The Most Beautiful Cemetery in Spain” in 2015 for its uniqueness and, above all, its views.

This castle crowns the town of Montánchez, showcasing its excellent geographical location, which lends its hams their distinctive flavor.

After exploring this spectacular monument, considered one of the wonders of the Sierra de Montánchez and Tamuja region, we continue our culinary experience with an express ham-carving class taught by one of the town’s best professional carvers. We’ll discover the secrets and interesting facts about this delicacy, which finds its best ally in these mountains, rightly earning it the title of unique and authentic. You’ll enjoy a tasting of three types of ham paired with Ribera del Guadiana DO wines and sparkling wines.

And since they say that even the way a pig walks is good, we took the opportunity to finish with a tasting of cured meats from our friend, the Iberian pig, and the most exquisite cheeses from the area.

A good glass of wine goes with the bacon ham!
