The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route presents its wine tourism offerings in Bilbao
Around thirty people discover the experiences that this itinerary brings together, which is part of the Wine Routes of Spain.
The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route presented its wine tourism offerings in Bilbao, experiences that combine culture, gastronomy, nature, and tradition around wine and cava, proposing a wine tourism route to savor the best flavors of Extremadura.
Around thirty people discovered this itinerary, which is part of the Wine Routes of Spain Product Club, an entity promoted by the Association of Wine Cities (ACEVIN).
The presentation took place on the afternoon of Thursday, May 21, at the Extremadura Center of Bilbao, a cultural association with over fifty years of history. The center, dedicated to Extremadura and its culture, boasts around one hundred members from across Spain, not just from Extremadura itself, who visit the region each year to discover its artistic, cultural, scenic, and gastronomic heritage.
The Route comprises forty establishments including rest accommodations, restaurants, wineries, themed leisure companies, gourmet shops, tourist offices to plan the destination and museums such as the Villafranca de los Barros Museum, the Wine Science Museum of Almendralejo and the Cava Museum of the same city, the only one in Spain dedicated to cava.
The presentation of the Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route was led by its technical expert, Isabel García, who also conducted a guided tasting. Attendees had the opportunity to sample a white wine, “Marqués de Villalba,” a Pardina variety from the Montevirgen Cooperative Society of Villalba de los Barros; a red wine, “Emperador de Barros,” a Tempranillo from Viticultores de Barros; and a Brut Nature Reserva Cava, “Privilegio de Romale,” from Bodegas Romale.
The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route is located within the Ribera del Guadiana Designation of Origin (DO) and the Cava DO. This wine tourism itinerary, according to data from the Spanish Wine Routes Observatory, was enjoyed by more than 24,000 people in 2024, 3,000 of whom participated in activities organized by the Route.
