This wine tourism itinerary, which is part of the Wine Routes of Spain, opens the Extremadura Days in Barcelona organized by the Federation of Extremaduran Associations in Catalonia.

The Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route presented its wine tourism offer this Friday, June 5, in Barcelona, where around thirty people discovered the experiences included in this proposal, which combines culture, gastronomy, nature, and tradition centered around wine and cava, allowing visitors to enjoy the finest flavors of Extremadura.

This wine tourism itinerary, which is part of the Wine Routes of Spain, inaugurated the Extremadura Days in Barcelona organized by the Federation of Extremaduran Associations in Catalonia.

Restaurants, wineries, accommodation establishments, themed leisure companies, gourmet shops, tourism offices, and museums such as the Villafranca de los Barros Museum, the Wine Sciences Museum of Almendralejo, the Cava Museum of the same city, the Turra Museum, and the Geological and Mining Museum of Santa Marta de los Barros make up this Route, which is located within the territory of the Ribera del Guadiana Designation of Origin (DO) and the Cava DO.

The presentation of the Ribera del Guadiana Wine and Cava Route was conducted by its technician, Isabel García, who also led a guided tasting in which attendees had the opportunity to sample a white wine, “Zaleo,” made from the native Pardina grape variety by the “Viñaoliva” cooperative; a Tempranillo red wine, “Emperador de Barros,” from Bodega Viticultores de Barros; and a brut nature reserva cava, “Privilegio de Romale,” from Bodegas Romale.

More than 24,000 people enjoyed this wine tourism itinerary in 2024, according to data from the Observatory of the Wine Routes of Spain. This Route was introduced on Thursday to members of the Federation of Extremaduran Associations in Catalonia, which comprises 19 entities and hundreds of members who visit the region every year to enjoy its artistic, cultural, scenic, and gastronomic heritage, and who serve as the region’s finest ambassadors beyond its borders.
